About Us

Welcome Message from the Director

The School Partnership and Field Experience Office (SPFEO) supports, coordinates and strengthens University-level policies and practices in school partnership, mentorship and field experience. The Office builds mutually beneficial partnerships with schools by supporting mentoring capacity and teachers' professional development.

Our roles and responsibilities

01Establish partnerships with schools and related organisations, including School Sponsoring Bodies and universities, locally and internationally to support student teachers in their field experience.
02Work with University teaching staff, school principals and supporting teachers to create an environment conducive to learning for student teachers and supporting teachers.
03Support and coordinate the University's ongoing work in partnership, mentoring and field experience.
04Undertake and support research and development related to partnership, mentoring and field experience.
05Develop resources and activities that support field experience supervisors and supporting teachers.
06Assist in developing and implementing policies related to field experience and partnership.
07Contribute to teaching and support student teachers in formal and non-formal field experience learning.

Field Experience is viewed as central to our education programmes at the EdUHK, because it:

Places student teachers in schools—important sites for learning to teach—where they interpret, generate, interact with and experiment with theory.

Provides student teachers with opportunities for socialisation into the profession.

Creates a learning community where student teachers, supporting teachers and EdUHK supervisors learn together and enhance their professional development.

Encourages student teachers to innovate and reflect on their practice in a supportive environment.

Allows student teachers to develop and demonstrate their competence and readiness to enter the profession.
